WBAI 99.5 FM Radio Interview - 3AM - In The Moment

Posted by Kanaska Carter on October 21, 2011 at 6:55 AM

Just returned from an interview at WBAI 99.5 FM with Ibrahim Gonzalez alongside 6 other beautiful souls who are occupying Wall Street.

The synchronicity of the whole experience was incredible. Just one night before I found myself crying because I felt as if the media was attempting to make the musicians here appear as if they have no political or positive message to share with the world.

Then by 'chance' I am given an opportunity to sing a song to the world.

We all followed this man with a video camera all the way to 120 Wall Street into his studio.

The show aired from 3am-5am.

One man from Tennessee named Fetzer, Ibrahaim from Africa who experienced war first-hand in his country, Jacob who was promoting his new broadway musical, a man from New York City named John, myself and another man I am unable to remember his name unfortunately.

The whole night felt so magical. One man claiming our appearance did not allow for us to be taken seriously, another was playing his accordion, a third full of passion as he spoke of the corruption within our world and another telling us of how his friend now jobless and in his late fifties/early sixties --now without health care and income comes by to cut grass just to make some money to survive.

Many people called in, a couple I knew. I had met them in person. One man, his daughter was molested and now has oral herpes at the age of 4. It breaks your heart to hear these stories. I remember meeting him and suggesting he research MMS2 to heal his daughter.

There was a moment when two of the men began to fight and I just wanted them to stop. It became very childish, but very human. Very real. Fetzer and I tried to stop the fighting it got to the point of Fetzer yelling and leaving the room and me telling them to shut up.

Despite this, we continued the show. It all felt so surreal.

It was beautiful. The whole night. Afterwards we were invited into Ibrahaim's studio. Jacob played accordion and sang, Ibrahim played piano and I sang while chatting with my friend Fetzer.

I will forever remember tonight. We were invited to return next Friday morning at 3am. I feel so blessed. So grateful. All I feel in this moment is love.

Freedom for all.
